As well as the cultural side, the city offers more adrenaline-fuelled activities such as Trabant trek (yester-year local car), shooting down a toboggan run, canoeing on the Danube, pistol shooting and horse racing.
Party from dusk till dawn in this wild and elaborate city, visit huge open-air clubs, and courtyard beer gardens where you can try the local firewater called Palinka (a sort of brandy) or another popular local tipple is Unicum (a syrupy black drink need I say more?). Amazing large glitzy nightclubs in which you can literally dance the night away, along with live DJ’s, the city offers a mixed array of musical genres from jazz to rock.
As for the food, Hungarian cuisine is a must try. With local delicacies like pastries, soups (particularly made with fish) and meat dishes (including stews and casseroles), there is enough choice to please all members of your hen party. As well as International dishes using local produce such as curries and freshly made pizza using a variety of spices and herbs. Or if you’re feeling homesick for a slice of Britain, plenty of restaurants offer traditional English alternatives.
Getting to all these great attractions and activities is as easy as ABC. Give walking a try for a chance to get some fresh air along the hillside, away from the smoky pubs. Feeling lazy? Take the tram, which runs throughout the city.
