Travel Insurance Advice

I know this is a real bore however, you are going on a stag or hen weekend and the probability of you needing medical help is a lot higher than say if you’re going on a dry stone walling holiday with Auntie Edna, so let’s be selectable in our sensibility here.

According to an article in the Mirror each year about 10 million Brits go on holiday without travel insurance.

DesignaVenture currently doesn’t sell travel insurance and this isn’t an elaborate way of getting you to click on the link below for you to buy insurance and we get a kick back, we are just selling the benefits of travel insurance, it’s then up to you to go online and buy some…

Cancelation

When booking your break you are going to be tied down to terms and conditions which include cancelation charges.

Most insurance policy will cover these charges if your reason for cancelling is an insurable reason, you can’t just say you don’t want to go – however if, God forbid, someone in your family is taken ill and you cannot attend your holiday, you should be able to claim your money back from your policy.

Medical

If you fall ill abroad and need to see a doctor or go to a hospital, you are going to be left with a hefty bill, having insurance should cover these bills.

Repatriation

This is a very costly way of returning to the UK, so make sure you are covered!

When Buying Travel Insurance Make Sure You….

  • Advise the insurance company of any existing medical conditions
  • Check the policy covers any activities you may book
  • Check your policy covers all your personal circumstances and plans

EHIC

You can get a European Health Insurance Card which will cover you for state medical care, however this will not cover anything else.

Here are prices on what you could fork out for without travel insurance:

  • £15,000 for a broken hip in Spain for hospital treatment and flights
  • £25,000 moped accident with surgery and repatriation to the UK
  • £100,000 stomach bug in the USA with hospital treatment and return flights

The above prices where taken from the FCO website.

So, get yourself some insurance and have yourself a street free and fantastic holiday.
