Description: |
A compact seaside metropolis, Barcelona is a zany splash of weird and wonderful buildings lapped by the Mediterranean, a magnet to everyone from art-loving beach bums to stags/hens with a weakness for sunny downtime. Barcelona is a bicultural city at heart, with two languages ~ Catalan and Spanish.
By day check La Rambla, a mega busiest boulevard or take a bite of market life in La Boqueria both Mecca’s for shoppers. Or F C Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium ~ one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions.
Along the waters front is brilliant for finding both traditional and funky restaurants.
By night El Raval is the grittiest and perhaps the sexiest area, it’s perfect for stags and hens wanting to spend all night crawling the bars. The choice is ample, from taverns with a century’s history to cool new bars, from dives to a couple of the city’s most popular clubs.

Tips whilst in Barcelona
Always be very careful with your belongings wherever you are in Barcelona
Always carry only what you need for the day. The most dangerous area in the city is close to the Gothic town (the Lower Raval), which can be particularly dodgy at night, especially in high season
Do not expect motorists to stop for pedestrians at zebra crossings
Lunch and dinner start late in the city, typically at 2pm and 8pm respectively
Always keep your baggage in full view when arriving or leaving your hotel especially if you have travelled by coach
When you leave your room, close the windows and lock the door
Use the safety deposit boxes available in the hotel to store your valuables
Always leave the key to your room at the hotel reception desk
Do not take any valuables to the beach with you, take only the amount of money you will need.
Always keep your personal possessions in view while bathing
If you are a victim of a crime memorise as many details as possible, do not touch anything, notify the Mossos dEsquadra and follow their instructions
When reporting a crime, present a personal identification document and, if possible, proof of purchase of the stolen objects
Whenever you need the services of the police or when you need information for reporting a crime, call 088 (Police) or 112 (Emergencies)
A taxi from Barcelona International airport to the centre should cost around 20 €, ask before you get in. Its a good idea to buy a T-10, ten-journey metro card, valid for buses as well as metros in the city
Always carry identification and a card with the address of your hotel
Do not spend the night in public places or on the beach
